Pledge for Food Today: Community Kitchen

A call for solidarity with our farmers and urban poor communities.

Solidarity shares pledged through our Food Today program of Food Today, Food Tomorrow help us to source fresh produce directly from our frontline farming communities, and deliver them to the urban poor.

Every week, we work together with Pinagkaisang Lakas ng Mamamayan (PLM/ People’s United Strength), a group of women leaders who manages community kitchens and distributes hot meals to families within Golden Shower and other nearby communities in Payatas.

Each contribution of PhP 150 roughly covers one meal for a family, subject of course to variability in produce delivered and the manner in which it is cooked and distributed. Note that it is more than matched by all the care labor of cooking, organizing and distributing that is carried through by PLM to ensure their community is fed.
